The Police-Ghost in the machine

Photobucket
This one is very basic and a little dated yet I have always liked it. It came out around the time I was first getting into music, but I was listening to a lot of radio so I was hearing quite a bit of popular pop stuff. I like the simplicity of the design and the colors. Plus it doesn't have Sting's snooty mug on it.

Actually, I think Sting is the one in the center.

I'd prefer to think that the symbols don't represent the band members. I would like think that the cover reflecting the title was more important than the band having themselves on the cover. I am probably wrong though.

I looked at this cover for years--for decades--and it was only when I saw it on a t-shirt at the Police reunion concert last year that I saw the faces.

It was one of those moments when I realized that I'm not as smart as I thought.

It's a brilliant cover--the JUngian idea of the ghost in the machine represented in the simplest way possible: the band members as "ghosts" in the computer-character symbols. Outstanding.
